On January 13th, the New Cornerstone Investigator Program announced the list of the first grantees; 58 scientists from Mathematical and Physical Sciences and Biological and Medical Sciences became the first New Cornerstone Investigators. Prof. Sun Binyong of IASM, Zhejiang University, also the member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, was selected.

The New Cornerstone Investigator Program (hereinafter referred to as The Program) is a nonprofit and independent funding initiative that takes a forward-thinking approach to encouraging basic research spearheaded by leading scientists. The Program pledges to provide a select group of exceptional scientists with stable, long-term support for discovery research that is profoundly important to humankind.
