Abstract: I will review recent progress on extending the Minimal Model Program to foliations. Building on techniques from both birational geometry and the theory of foliations, we obtain new results on the structure of foliated pairs. I will focus on applications such as the boundedness of algebraically integrable Fano foliations.

Profile: Paolo Cascini is a professor of mathematics at Imperial College London and a leading expert in algebraic geometry. He is renowned for his seminal contributions to birational geometry, particularly his work, often referred to as BCHM (standing for Birkar, Cascini, Hacon, and McKernan), which is a fundamental result in the Minimal Model Program. In recognition of his groundbreaking research, Cascini has received several prestigious honors, including the Sloan Fellowship and the E. H. Moore Prize from the American Mathematical Society for the best research article.
