IASM Launches Named Lecture Series with Support from Alumni Donors
On the afternoon of October 12, the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (IASM) held a donation ceremony to launch its Named Lecture Series, celebrating the generous support of its alumni community. The event was attended by Professor Jian-Shu Li, Founding Director of IASM, along with Zhejiang University representatives and alumni donors.
“IASM is not merely an academic institution, but a place that provides a tranquil and stimulating environment where mathematicians from all over the world can gather to work, think, and exchange ideas,” said Professor Jianshu Li. “We envision the institute as a growing tree whose vitality stems from its diverse yet interconnected branches, reflecting our ongoing commitment to building a world-class institution for mathematics.”

During the ceremony, donation certificates were presented to alumni donors, including Jianbin Liu (Founder of Ofound Angel), Guangzan Li (Founder of Boyan Fund), Jinhai Wang (Founder of Fooing), Wangrui Liu (Founder of Ruiyishengxue), Jiaxin Li (Founder of Fine Control), Zhiyuan Wang (Head of Hangzhou Qingpeng Education), and Jinxian Lin (representing Jian Huang, President of the Australian Alumni Association).

Adding a unique dimension to the event, Professor Yongbin Ruan delivered a lecture titled A Scientist's Perspective on Culture: The Meaning of Life. He captivated the audience by seamlessly weaving scientific rationality with a contemplation of life's purpose, showcasing a scientist's profound humanistic care and universal wonder.

With the successful conclusion of the ceremony, the newly established Named Lecture Series is poised to enhance academic exchange and foster new opportunities for mathematical research at IASM.
