Pretalk:  Geography of algebraic varieties: an introduction

Abstract: In this pretalk, I will give a brief introduction to the geography of algebraic varieties, starting from the surface case.

Research talk:  Moduli spaces of threefolds on the Noether line

Abstract: In this talk, I will discuss some recent results on classifying threefolds of general type with p_g >= 5 and with smallest possible canonical volume. This is a joint work with S. Coughlan, Y. Hu, and R. Pignatelli.
