国际顶尖数学家，2010年菲尔兹奖得主，美国艺术与科学院院士，法国科学院外籍院士、伦敦数学学会荣誉会员。他因对现代数学核心领域——朗兰兹纲领（Langlands Program）的革命性贡献而闻名全球，特别是证明了“基本引理”（Fundamental Lemma) ——该问题由朗兰兹与谢拉赫于1979年提出，是连接数论、代数几何与群表示论的核心难题。
吴教授出生于越南河内，1997年获巴黎第十一大学博士学位，曾先后在法国国家科学研究中心、巴黎第十一大学、普林斯顿高等研究院、芝加哥大学等机构任职。目前，他是芝加哥大学Francis和Rose Yuen杰出服务讲席教授、越南数学高等研究院科学主任。
Ngô Bảo Châu was born in Hanoi, Vietnam. He is the Francis and Rose Yuen Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago and the founder and Scientific Director of the Vietnamese Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) in Hanoi.
In 2010, he was awarded the Fields Medal. He is also an Honorary Member of the London Mathematical Society (since 2021), a Foreign Member of the Académie des Sciences de Paris (since 2016), and a Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (since 2012).
Earlier in his career, Prof. Ngô held appointments at the Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton, NJ and the Université Paris-Sud. He received his PhD at the Université Paris-Sud and his BS at the École Normale Supérieure, Université Pierre et Marie Curie.
Prof. Ngô is best known for his proof of the Fundamental Lemma in the theory of automorphic forms, a conjecture proposed by Robert Langlands and Diana Shelstad, which played a crucial role in advancing the Langlands program.
